Guardians of San Diego

Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament

Guardians of San Diego’s 27th Annual Golf, Tennis & Spa Day presented by Seacrest Foundation, with presenting sponsor, The William Gumpert Foundation, raised over $165,000. Proceeds from “Take a Swing for Seniors” held July 23rd will benefit the Resident Assistance Fund of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities.

Seacrest Foundation hosted over 125 golfers and tennis players at Monday’s event at the exclusive Del Mar Country Club as well as 14 attendees at the award-winning Rancho Valencia Spa. On the course, golfers played “Best Ball Shamble,” and enjoyed ice cold refreshments all throughout the day, generously donated by Crest Beverage and Mike Hess Brewing as well as NEW this year, frozen margaritas! The all-day event also included a silent auction, BBQ buffet lunch, cocktail reception followed by dinner and an awards program in Del Mar’s private Club House. Hot items in the auction included golf at The Bridges, The Crosby, Hillcrest and Brentwood Country Clubs, along with a vacation in a luxury home in Palm Desert and Kauai, staycations at Rancho Valencia and The Lodge at Torrey Pines, as well as date nights, beauty packages for men and women and much more.

Tournament winners include Devin Chodorow, Charles Shapiro, Herb Schaer, Charles Sher and Robert Meyer in first place for golf; Jon Schwartz, Todd Kirschen, Matt Kolker and Tony Brown in second place for golf; Steve Kavy in first place and a tie between Jerome Van Amburg and Paige Press in second place for tennis. Contest winners are Ryan Kane for Closest to the Pin, Sean Pope for Men’s Longest Drive and Jenny Liu for Women’s Longest Drive, and Chris Hajnik for Straightest Drive. A sold out raffle had 8 lucky winners with Robert Haimsohn winning the grand prize of $1,000. This year’s committee was led by chair, Devin Chodorow, and included members Earl Altshuler, Mary Epsten, Bob Haimsohn, Marty Ehrlich and Cindy Bloch.
