Seacrest Village: (760) 632-0081
Dear Seacrest Residents and Family Members, March 12, 2021 Dear Residents and Families,

I hope this finds you all well. We are pleased to share that it’s been 5 weeks since we have had to report a positive case of COVID-19 virus at Seacrest. For that, we are extremely grateful.

As you can imagine, we have received many questions since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently announced their new guidelines regarding those who have been fully vaccinated. At Seacrest, we need to remember that we serve residents in different buildings and as such, there are different requirements and often more stringent requirements that we must follow. We also need to be mindful that although 99% of residents and 86% of staff have received the vaccine, there are many in the greater community who have not received the vaccine, and therefore wearing masks while in public is still strongly advised. The information below is intended to provide you with relevant information of some of the operational changes effective Monday March 15, 2021 in our respective buildings.

For the Lee & Frank Goldberg Residence Court (IL) and Leichtag Family Assisted Living Residence (AL)
  • Masks are still required while in the hallways and common areas but not while attending life enrichment or fitness programs held in various areas, I.e., Esther & Bud Fischer Aquatics and Fitness Center, (FC) Ellen & Ingram Chodorow Synagogue, (CS) Theater Room, Computer Room, Tasting Room, Arts and Crafts Room, Library, AL Sun Room, etc.
  • Our Fitness Center will re-open, though the pool cannot re-open until we receive permission from the County Health Department, which we hope will occur soon along with our spa.
  • The IL beauty salon is open now and the AL salon will re-open very soon.
  • Residents may visit each other in their respective buildings and their respective apartments.
  • Bistros will not be supplied with coffee and snacks at this time.
  • Dining Rooms will be open for three meals, though the salad bars will not be used just yet. Salads will be served individually. Room trays must be requested by those who prefer a meal be delivered to their apartment. The protective plexi-glass will no longer be used, although they will be available upon request.
  • In IL, all residents wishing to eat at one table will be seated once all members of the party have arrived. We encourage you to sit in our newly expanded living room while you wait for everyone to arrive.
  • There will be a two-week adjustment period for those who wish have their meals delivered to their apartments rather than go to the dining room. Effective April 1st, our tray service delivery fee will be in effect.
  • Mel’s Place will re-open for resident and staff use after Passover, Monday April 5, 2021.
  • Outside family visits have resumed by appointment. Visitors who have been vaccinated should bring their cards with them. Masks will be optional for fully vaccinated residents and visitors. If either resident or visitor is not vaccinated, masks will be required.
To schedule a visit in IL, please contact Kate at kferris@seacrestvillage.org or call 760-632-3704 and in AL, please contact Jenny at jjacobs@seacrestvillage.org or call 760-516-5007. At this time, only outside health care providers will be allowed in the buildings, although residents may leave the community with family or friends. We strongly request that residents, per CDC guidelines, whether vaccinated or not, continue to wear their mask in public. The CDC also recommends that fully vaccinated people continue to avoid large gatherings, and physically distance themselves from others when out in public. As in the past, if anyone experiences signs or symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, please remain in your apartment and contact your Building Director. We will continue testing residents and staff on a monthly basis, and more frequently if anyone exhibits signs or symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.

For the Katzin Residence and the Joseph & Dorothy Goldberg Health Care Center (GHC)

  • Masks are optional in their respective residences.
  • At this time, only outside health care providers will be allowed in resident areas, though residents may leave the community with family or friends.
  • Visits with GHC residents will take place outside or in the GHC lobby, not in resident rooms. Special regulations regarding outside visits from the Ca. Dept. of Public Health pertaining to our health care residents only, are in effect. Please confer with Jenny Jacobs when arranging your visit. She can be reached at: jjacobs@seacrestvillage.org or 760-516-2007.

  • We expect our beauty salon located in the Goldberg Health Care Center to open for residents of both the Katzin Residence and GHC in the very near future.
  • We will continue testing residents and staff monthly in the Katzin Residence and more frequently in the Goldberg Health Care Center, based on the Ca. Dept. of Public Health (CDPH) requirements.
We are pleased to announce that on Saturday, March 27th at 4:15 p.m. and Sunday, March 28th at 4:15pm, Passover Seders will be held in each of our respective buildings. While families may not attend in person this year, our Seder with Rabbi Leah will be available on line at www.livestream.com/seacrest. While we prefer all residents enjoy the Seders in person, those who wish to remain in their room may have a Seder plate delivered upon request, and enjoy the Seder on SVTV. While we are pleased to re-open parts of our operation and to get back to some sort of normalcy, your safety and well being will continue to be at the forefront of every decision. We ask for your patience as we slowly get back on track. As always, please don’t hesitate to call if you have questions. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Most sincerely, Pam Ferris President and CEO The Melvin Garb Foundation Presidential Chair
