Seacrest Village: (760) 632-0081

June 26, 2020

My hope is that this letter finds you all well and managing as best as possible.

I will start by sharing the good news that at the present time we have no known cases of COVID‑19 on our Seacrest Campus. I remain confident that this is, in part, the result of the work we are doing together.

Unfortunately, despite the great results within our Seacrest community, there has been a huge rise in the positive cases reported in San Diego County and, as a result, we have decided to temporarily suspend our in-person visiting program. We sincerely hope you understand and agree that the increased risk to our residents and staff under these circumstances should be avoided. You may continue to schedule ZOOM calls.

As a reminder, please contact:

Marisa Rosenberg (mrosenberg@seacrestvillage.org) to schedule Independent Living and Goldberg Healthcare ZOOM calls

Katie Park (kpark@seacrestvillage.org) for Katzin ZOOM calls

JoJo Mitrano (jmitrano@seacrestvillage.org) for Assisted Living ZOOM calls

As my previous letter indicated, in July and each month thereafter, we will begin COVID-19 testing of residents and staff in all buildings. While Seacrest will administer the testing for all buildings, please know that the County has its own test processing laboratory for the testing of residents and staff who live/work in the skilled nursing facility. Test results from the County take 5-10 days. For all other residents and staff on the campus we are often able to have results within 2-4 days as we use an independent laboratory. Please be advised that we will only provide the results to the residents themselves unless another name is on file as the person to be notified in such circumstances.

COVID-19 testing will take place

Monday-Thursday between the hours of

10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

We will advise residents when their specific time will be and we will bring the test to them.

Residents who reside on the first floors of both Independent and Assisting Living will be tested the first week of the month.

Residents who reside on the second floors of both Independent and Assisted Living will be tested the second week of the month.

Residents in the Katzin Residence (Rooms 1-12) will be tested the first week of the month.

Residents in the Katzin Residence (Rooms 13-24) will be tested the second week of the month.

The nursing home residents have their own schedule.

Staff whose last names begin with A-L will be tested the first week of the month.

Staff whose last names begin with M-Z will be tested the second week of the month.

All resident tests will be billed to Medicare; no co-pay is required. We will provide the testing company with the resident’s Medicare number for processing.

In the event that someone misses his/her designated testing time, we will use the third week of the month to make sure we have tested everyone.

On another important topic, we have seen families coming to Seacrest unannounced, particularly on weekends. Please know that this is not permitted and if you are seen on the property (other than dropping things off for your loved one at our main entrance) you will be asked to leave the premises. We understand how important it is for families and residents to reunite and, in response, did our best to institute a program that we hoped would be safe, fair and responsible. Though we are temporarily suspending this program, we do intend to resume it once the positive COVID-19 cases begin to decrease.

We need your support now more than ever, to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and staff. We have done so well thus far, and as I’ve said before, it takes a village. Please do your part to help us keep everyone safe!

Please do not hesitate to call me should you have any questions.

Most sincerely,
