Seacrest Village: (760) 632-0081

June 19, 2020

Dear Residents, Families and Associates,

I hope you and your family are well. I am pleased to share the following topics with you in hopes they will provide some comfort and reassurance:

COVID CASES

We currently have no known cases of COVID-19 at this time. To date, we have had 3 staff members test positive. All are fine and have returned to work, after testing negative and taking the appropriate amount of time to quarantine. Residents and staff who were possibly exposed in each of those situations were tested and all results were negative.

TESTING INFO

Effective July 1, we will begin a monthly Preventative COVID Screening Program campus-wide. All residents and employees will be screened using either a saliva or nasal swab test (which is less invasive than the nasal pharynx test). Routine testing is required by the County for residents and staff in nursing homes, though we have decided to implement this program campus-wide as a precautionary measure to keep everyone as safe as possible.

As always, if anyone exhibits COVID symptoms, isolate immediately and contact your healthcare professional. Our testing of staff and residents is only for routine screening and not for diagnostic purposes.

VISITING INFO

Our Seacrest Social Distancing Visiting Program began June 8 and has been very successful. The joy these visits bring to residents and families is extremely touching to witness. To schedule an appointment, please email Jenny Jacobs, Executive Assistant at jjacobs@seacrestvillage.org.

It is critical that families do not come to our campus unannounced as these visits need to be coordinated given the number of residents who reside here.

Because so many have signed up for visits, it is important for guests to arrive 5-10 minutes ahead of your scheduled time so that you can complete the form and have your temperature taken without interfering with your visit.

It is also important that you arrive and depart timely so we can stay on track, as we have a large number of visits scheduled daily.

Our Zoom Visiting Program has also been a huge success and we encourage you to take advantage of remote visiting. Please contact Marisa Rosenberg mrosenberg@seacrestvillage.org if you want to schedule an appointment.

CAMPUS PROGRAMMING

Our beauty salons have reopened and each building director is working directly with the residents to schedule appointments. Please be patient as we do our best to accommodate everyone.

Our pool and fitness center have also reopened with protocols, initially for the independent living residents only. For questions, please contact Lori Officer at lofficer@seacrestvillage.org.

On Friday July 3, we will celebrate Independence Day campus-wide, with special events and meals scheduled in each of our residences. Unfortunately, families cannot attend, and we certainly hope next year will be a different story!

CLOSING COMMENTS

To our associates, we thank you for upholding the Seacrest pledge and for making your work and your families your priority. You are helping to keep our residents and one another healthy by these actions and we are all grateful.

To our residents, we know being apart from your families these past many months has been extremely difficult; and yet, we need to ask that you please adhere to our strong recommendation that you not leave the campus, despite so many public places reopening. Every time anyone leaves and returns, the risk of getting COVID and/or exposing others is greatly enhanced.

To our family members, we know that being apart from your loved one(s) is very hard on you too. We ask for your continued support in adhering to our protocols and encouraging your relative(s) to do the same! We are doing our best to gradually reopen programs and services on the campus. We still strongly discourage residents from leaving the property. With businesses reopening and many protests occurring, sadly COVID cases are spiking again. So far, staying the course has worked for our small but mighty village, and with everyone’s help, we hope that will continue!

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Please direct all questions to me at pferris@seacrestvillage.org or call 760-632-0081.

Wishing everyone a Happy Father’s Day!

Shabbat Shalom and stay well,
