Seacrest Village: (760) 632-0081

December 29, 2021

Dear Residents, Families, and Associates,

This is a very important communication, as there are things you need to be aware of today. After you read this letter, we ask that you call us with any questions. We are happy to speak with you. Residents, you can also call your building directors with any questions or concerns.

Yesterday, December 28, 2021, we learned that two staff members tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. One of the individuals is a Seacrest at Home Caregiver who has not worked since December 13, 2021. The second is a Goldberg Healthcare Center Life Enrichment employee whose last day worked was December 25, 2021. In addition, this morning we learned that two nurses in our Goldberg Healthcare Center tested positive. One has not been on campus since December 19, 2021, and the other was last on campus on December 24, 2021. I realize this is a lot to hear in one letter, but I ask you to trust that we have this situation under control.

In addition, over the past several days we have conducted almost two hundred tests of our residents and staff. I am pleased to share that those that have been processed have come back negative, except for those we knew would be positive based upon the results of their rapid tests. We are still waiting for more to be returned, and we hope to share good news with you soon.

It goes without saying that we have spent the last two years doing everything we can to protect each of you. We have taken every precaution and asked for your full cooperation. We have operated as a team of staff, residents, and families. Today is no different.

Since Thanksgiving you have been receiving many notices from us. While we know the calls and letters can be numerous, we do know you appreciate them, and our intention is to continue sharing important information as it becomes available. I do want to let you know that with the increasing number of cases, we will now move to a once per day update taking place in the late afternoon.

Today we are in an outbreak in our Goldberg Healthcare Center. An outbreak is considered more than two active cases, which we have. We now have, or have recently had, cases in each of our buildings. As always, we do contact tracing immediately after we learn of case.

We also report, as mandated, to the County and other required entities. We follow CDC guidelines regarding employees returning to work and often, implement stricter guidelines given the special group of residents we serve.

The San Diego County numbers are very high and increasing daily. If this were the days of color-coded zones, we would be in the Red Zone. Given the above, and out of an abundance of caution, we are entering into a precautionary two-week period beginning tomorrow morning December 30, 2021.

Here are the details of this precautionary two-week period that you need to know:

ALL CAMPUS:

  • No visitors or volunteers will be permitted on the campus.
  • No visitors will be permitted to stay in resident apartments at this time.
  • Home care providers or other approved healthcare providers will be allowed on campus after a negative rapid test.
  • We will be adding additional programming to SVTV Channel 1360 in Independent Living and Assisted Living. In the Goldberg Healthcare Center the channel is 70.
  • We will continue driving residents to medical appointments. If a resident goes out with a family member to a medical appointment, we strongly request not stopping anywhere other than the medical appointment, and we ask that masks are worn in the vehicle with windows ajar, and everywhere else.
  • There is a table in front of the main entrance for dropping things off for residents. We will do our best to get items to residents as soon as possible. If you are bringing perishable items, please let a staff person know when you are there.
  • The Fitness and Aquatic Center is closed.
  • There is a campus wide mask mandate. We understand that residents feel very safe around one another; however, with people leaving the campus for any reason, there is a greater risk of exposure and we do not want that for any of you.
  • And lastly, while we will be postponing New Year’s Eve; rest assured we will have a celebration in due time, and it will be very special.

One thing we know for sure is that we are a Seacrest Family who cares for one another, and we will get through this challenge.

I thank you for your ongoing support and trust.

Most sincerely,

Pam Ferris
