About Seacrest Village
Seacrest Village Retirement Communities, a development of the San Diego Hebrew Homes, is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving the San Diego community since 1944. Two unique campuses cater to the various needs and desires of our clients. Our communities offer unsurpassed service as well as a continuing commitment to the highest standards in retirement living, assisted living, Alzheimer’s/dementia care and healthcare. Created and maintained through the generous support of San Diego families, our campuses reflect this sincere dedication to our seniors.
Timeline
1944 - San Diego Hebrew Homes originated as a small Home caring for 10 Jewish seniors.
1955 - First Residential Care facility on 54th Street. Home to 30 seniors.
1961 - New skilled nursing unit at 54th Street accommodates 27 seniors.
1969 - Skilled nursing expands by 15 additional beds.
1978 - Skilled nursing adds 30 beds, increases total to 72 beds.
1982 - Ten acre site purchased in Encinitas.
1989 - Seacrest Village at Encinitas introduces The Garden Court, with 98 Independent Living apartments.
1990 - Joseph & Dorothy Goldberg Healthcare Center opens at Encinitas with 58 skilled nursing beds.
1991 - Sam and Rose Stein Day Care Center opens.
1996 - Purchase of Seacrest Village at Rancho Bernardo, 60 units of Independent Living.
1997 - New Bernard & Dorris Lipinsky Administration Building at Encinitas.
1998 - Encinitas Campus adds Leichtag Family Assisted Living Residence to accommodate 40 seniors.
1998 - Mel's Place Coffee House opens.
2007 - The Katzin Residence opens, with 26 units of Alzheimer's/dementia care.
2010 - Capital Campaign for future expansion.

Pam Ferris – Pam is President and Chief Executive Officer of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities. Pam has been with Seacrest Village since 1989. She has been involved with the growth of the organization, which has included the initial development and expansion of Seacrest Village’s 10-acre campus in Encinitas, the opening of its skilled nursing, assisted living and dementia centers, the sale of its original home and acquisition of a second site. Pam holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from San Diego State University with an emphasis on Gerontology, and is also a Licensed Nursing Home and Assisted Living Administrator. She has served on the San Diego board of the California Association of Healthcare Facilities, has chaired national conferences on aging and is currently on the board of the National Association of Jewish Aging Services.
Robin Israel – Robin P. Israel has enjoyed a 20 year progressive career with Seacrest Village Retirement Communities and is the Vice President of Philanthropy. Ms. Israel helped to create and oversees the Seacrest Foundation. Robin supervises and coordinates annual, capital and planned giving activities and was most recently responsible for the completion of a 23 million dollar capital/endowment campaign. Robin has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She has been a featured presenter on marketing, public relations and philanthropy and has published several articles. Ms. Israel is a founding member of Generations Management Group, LLC, a for profit management company that offers support services to healthcare facilities throughout the country. Robin lives in Carlsbad, California with her husband, Ron, who is an English Professor, and their two children.

Renee Leger – Renee, Vice President of Operations for Seacrest Village Retirement Communities has been with the organization since 1991. In her role, Renee oversees all operations for Seacrest Village. Renee studied institutional management at Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island and has over 30 years of management experience in hospitals as well as nursing and retirement homes. Having management responsibilities for a multi-disciplinary team, Renee understands the importance of various departments working together to achieve the ultimate goal of providing the highest standard of service and care to the resident community.

Bradley Blose – Brad is Vice President of Finance for Seacrest Village Retirement Communities, and has been a part of the team since 1994. Brad attended Penn State, where he earned a BS in Accounting. He holds a current California CPA license. He was employed by Arthur Andersen, an international accounting firm, from 1987 to 1996 and worked in the Pittsburgh and San Diego offices.
Kathy Sanger – Kathy, Corporate Director of Human Resources for Seacrest Village Retirement Communities, graduated from Arizona State University with a BA degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in Special Education. She taught for six years in Long Beach, CA and moved to Encinitas in 1986. Kathy was able to transition her career development from teaching children to teaching and training employees in the development of human resources. Kathy has 20 plus years of successful management of Human Resources within the housing and healthcare industry, which was enhanced when Kathy returned to school in 2001 and received her PHR (professional in human resource certificate).
